Join Our Sacred Circle: VOLUNTEER
200+ volunteers have helped Interstate Horse Center donate nearly $200,000 in services to 2,000+ members of the southern Wisconsin community since 2001. Much to the surprise of many volunteers, you don’t need to know a thing about horses to volunteer. You can enjoy time in nature or the comfort of your own home while helping us bring the power of nature and animals to people who often can’t afford such an opportunity.
Opportunities for horsemen or those interested in learning more about horses:
Be a session-support person – side-walker, horse leader, post-session horse-care, and more (join us once for a few hours, or more)
Become a Horse Hero™ - requires a commitment for 3x/week over 6-12 months (muck stall, groom, longe)
Help condition or train horses
Assist with herd care – we provide training.
Consider volunteering with your own horse in Horses For Heroes™ program in 2011.
We need larger stock/draft type riding horses for this program and people willing to participate in training for such involvement.
A few volunteer opportunities for non-horsemen:
Arts & Crafts and/or Children’s program assistance – especially during Horses For Heroes™ and CARE Programs.
Be a Grill Master – cooking meals over a campfire or on our grill.
Gardening – give a few hours one time or regularly April- October, or develop a full gardening program.
Nature Trail – help maintain the trail and/or develop education stations on this 5 acre trail.
Mechanic –we use old equipment that could truly benefit from someone able to do regularly scheduled maintenance.
Electric –we would love help installing measures to reduce the farm’s carbon footprint.
Hay-baling, barn and pasture maintenance, fencing and other farm-related projects.
Fund-raising, public relations, and other such administrative areas.
Volunteer Professional Staff: currently seeking a Volunteer Coordinator (unpaid position) to recruit, screen and recognize volunteers.
BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED: Perhaps the biggest need right now is for 3-5 people to serve on the board. No need for you to know a thing about horses. Board members are leaders of this organization committed to developing resources. Email Nikki at healinghorsemanship@aol.com for a Board packet.
